Biden Family Foreign Payments
A Rasmussen Poll released Thursday shows 69% of likely voters believe accusations of foreign influence peddling by Biden and his family are a serious scandal, including 52% who say it’s a ‘very serious’ scandal. This follows a press conference held Wednesday by the House Oversight Committee which discussed bank records of at least 9 Biden family members. Biden has stated in the past that allegations of anything wrong with respect to Biden business dealings are not true.
The Committee, controlled by the GOP, also issued a subpoena to the FBI requesting documents it alleges, from whistleblower testimony, that President Biden took bribes when he was Vice President. The FBI refused to comply and in a 6 page letter indicated that such information would be incomplete and could pose a danger to confidential informants if it were to be released.
State Revenues Beat Expectations
April revenues exceeded budget plans by over $10 million. Any revenue excess over budget will go towards additional property tax relief, up to $150 million. While May and June revenues are still to come, the April revenue ‘gives Idahoans one of the first major looks at where the budget stands following the legislative session, which adjourned April 6'.
Trump Liable for Sexual Abuse
A jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse of E. Jean Carroll but rejected the charge of rape. The case is a civil trial so Trump is not faced with jail time but he has been ordered to pay $5 million to Carroll. Trump said it was just another witch-hunt meant to tarnish his run for the Presidency in 2024 and that he plans to appeal the verdict.
Idaho First in Child Population Growth
Thirty five states have declining child populations. Idaho and North Dakota lead the nation in terms of increases in child population but only North Dakota did not have a greater increase in adult population. The declining ratio of children to adults can have implications for school planning among other areas.
